About
Welcome to Brighton City Table Tennis Club
In February 2007 Brighton Table Tennis club began working in partnership with Brighton Youth Centre, (Edward Street), offering free table tennis coaching and training sessions to anyone under the age of 18. The club is run entirely by volunteers who are both qualified coaches and county standard players themselves. As such the club has provided a unique opportunity to the young people of Brighton to reach a very high standard in a short space of time. The vast majority of young players at the club are socially disadvantaged and come from some of the poorest parts of Brighton.
Since 2010 the club has expanded to regular sessions at Patcham High School and Brighton University’s new Sports Centre at Falmer. This has allowed for paying members and has enabled the club to generate a more sustainable income from coaching.
Through working closely with the Inclusion and Learning Support Unit at Patcham High School, the club targets young people most in need of support, such as those struggling with their education or behaviour. They are set high expectations of self discipline, attitude and time keeping.
Through these channels, our coaches try to deliver three major outcomes for our players;
Improved effort in players’ education, leading to better educational achievement;
Improved engagement with their community (avoiding negative influences such as crime, drugs and anti-social behaviour)
Improved health and wellbeing (a reduction in obesity, better health and happiness)

Brighton City Table Tennis Club benefits from a diverse membership, both in terms of ethnicity and economic/social standing. This diversity creates a vibrant atmosphere. All are welcome at the club. We are always looking for new ideas and creative projects to engage young people through the fostering of a love and passion for the game of Table Tennis.
